HOMESCHOOL

HomeSchool is an amorphous institute for unorthodox forms of learning.

I work on this project as one of the Directors of Education appointed by Brandon Alvendia, Executive Director.

THE MOUNTAIN WAS A GIFT

In a project propelled by HomeSchool, I host classes alongside EJ Hill and my brother, Jeff Austin:

we are a group called The Mountain was a Gift, a musical project rooted in experimental pedagogy.

We are artists/educators/students/writers/musicians interested in alternative education through means of music and shared experience. Our sessions include live improvisational music and various structured exercises that have (so far) dealt with fear, change/transition, the importance of the human connection, and ways of being. Each session is recorded and our intended lesson then exists as an album/self-help disc that is mailed to each attending student.
